This is my second term as the MP of Pulai. Pulai is a mixed constituency in terms of of its voters. The constituency is made up of 50% malay and and 50% no malay voters. The constituency is also diverse in terms of development where a major part of the constitutes half of Johor Baru City, suburban residential areas Danga Bay, Taman Perling, Taman Bukit Indah and rural areas like Kempas.
The Pulai constituency is also at the heart of the Iskandar Development where the second phase of the development NODE 2 is Danga Bay.
I hope that through this blog, readers will be able to get to know more of my political philosophies and thinking intimately.
But first a little bit about my personal self. I am married to a beautiful, supporting wife and blessed with three wonderful children.
I have been active in politics since 1996 and I was an Exco Member of UMNO Youth National Committee until 2004. I am also the UMNO Division Chief and Chairman Barisan Nasional for Pulai, Johor since 2003.
In Parliament, I am now a member of the Public Accounts Committee and I am also the chairman of the finance committee of the BN Backbenchers Club (BNBBC). Previously I served as the secretary to both the International Bureau and the Economic Bureau of the BNBBC.
I studied accountancy at the Emile Woolf School of Accountancy, London and was admitted as a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, United Kingdom, Council Member and Chairman of Public Relations Committee of Malaysian Institute of Accountants. I am also a Council Member of the ASEAN Federation of Accountants as well as advisor and council member for ACCA Malaysia.
My professional background gave me opportunities to serve as a director in public listed companies such as United Malayan Berhad, Telekom Malaysia Berhad, P.T. Excelcomindo Pratama, Indonesia, Multinet Pakistan (subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia Berhad), Prinsiptek Corporation Berhad, Penang Port Sdn Bhd, Jaycorp Berhad, TSH Resouces Berhad and Ekowood International Berhad. I served as the chairman of the Audit Committee of Telekom Malaysia Bhd before the demerger exercise. In the other companies I am involved in their Audit Committees as well.
